Work Experience - Pallant House Gallery

Proposal:

Task: Using your mobile, shoot and make a media product to promote the gallery and exhibitions. Your remit is to target the youth audience, and find ways to engage them with the exhibitions.

Selected work to be shown on Instagram and Pallant House blog, reaching an audience of 20K followers.

During my work experience for Pallant House, â€‹I intend to create a video tour of Pallant House in a visually exciting style. I will make it through visiting the art gallery and filming dynamic footage of the different work on show, and edit it using advanced transitions and video effects, using Sony Vegas Pro 13, working from home. The use of exciting visual effects and transitions, will help to target a younger audience and broaden the range of ages that follow the Pallant House art galley on social media, as well as increasing the number of younger visitors to the gallery itself.

To help me understand which social media platforms are most popular for a younger audience, I used the secondary research method of visiting the website Livewire: on https://www.lifewire.com/hottest-social-app-trends-for-teens-3485940 This will help me to develop my final version of the Pllant House tour to suit these; based on my findings I will be making a video suited to be posted on YouTube as well as Instagram, as these were the two most popular platforms. As a result, I will make sure my video is the correct style and rendered in the correct format to be able to be posted videos on the Pallant House YouTube, as well as their Instagram, menaing my work could reach as many people as possible, by covering their most followed platforms. I will try and keep my video short and snappy in order to maintain the interest and attention of a younger audience, this will also be made possible through including a variety of exciting editing techniques and visual effects.

I want to experiment with several video effects such as colour correction, in order to focus the audience's eye on particular paintings, images and monuments. Furthermore, I will also experiment with a range of dissolves and cuts to allow the scenes in the video toflow smoothly and creatively into eachother, and to engage the young and active target audience. Additionally, I would like to experiment with masking and the use of overlays, to create dynamic visuals to make my final video appear unique and exciting, to give it the best chance of being selected for use on the Pallant House Instagram and blog, which has a reach of 20,000 followers. Consequently, this is a great oppurtunity to for me to showcase my work, and a stepping-stone for developing my intended career as a video editor in the future.
